"And On A Thousand-leaf He Wrote Passionately....My Passionfruit Millefeuille...."
I'm not quite sure if the title of this blog entry sounded right because it seemed like it came from a line of some romantic novel called.. THE RECIPE BOOK... The Pastry love affair of The Sugar Hippie.. haha
Well, this dessert would probably inspire you to write a few things about it or read more about it. Passionfruit has a love affair with french desserts and bartenders. Its flavor is just so refreshing and unique all its own. I am passionate about Passionfruit and I like them in my desserts!
This Passionfruit Millefeuille (meaning "Thousand-Leaf") is made of puff pastry and passionfruit flavored pastry cream. That simple. layered like a Napoleon. The puff pastry was baked between 2 baking sheets so as not to puff up too much until golden brown and then dusted with powdered sugar before the baking is complete. The pastry cream? custard made with passionfruit puree that you can find in your unsuspecting freezer section aisle sometimes called "Maracuja". Yes, that is what it's called. Find it and you have a versatile fruit puree in your stash..for your desserts or for your cocktails. If you know how to make pastry cream to fill eclairs and cream puffs, you can make this one the same way. No sweat. No mystery. It's a simple dessert but with a lasting impression..
The most important thing, for me, however, is that, whatever you plan to bake for your significant other, do it from the heart and everything else follows.
