2 Wedding Cakes And A Birthday












This weekend was one of the busier days at the shop. I prepared 2 wedding cakes and a birthday cake. First let's talk about the birthday cake. It was Rob's birthday, and his mom wanted us to make the traditional Red Velvet and Cream Cheese Frosting. Saturday afternoon was the pick-up time. The birthday boy forgot about his cake! He showed up sunday. He had to have a good time first, the cake comes later. haha

The other exciting project were the 2 wedding cakes for a restaurant owner and his muse. The first cake would be a Chocolate Cake with Strawberry Buttercream, slices of fresh strawberries, and decorated with summer berries. The second cake was Carrot Cake with plenty of nuts and dried fruits, filled with Raspberry Ganache and fresh raspberries, and a Dark Chocolate Nutella Buttercream. Sooo interesting. The groom decided on the flavors and it was actually quite a challenge to execute because of the combination of flavors and how to make everything work and the flavors compliment. And to me it took a lot of tasting and carefully balancing the flavors.
