Wedding Cake - Vanilla, Pearls, Gold and Pink




I like making wedding cakes. I recently made this 3-tier wedding cake for Nikki and Matt who had their wedding at the Boathouse in Central Park, NY.

The inside is vanilla cake and filled with vanilla buttercream. The fondant is plain white.  There is a  shimmer of gold on each tier and a ring of pearls for the border of the cake.

What made the cake more elegant is the huge pink heirloom peony sugar flower. It almost looks so real. There seem to be a velvety texture to it and the petals look natural and delicate.

I could not be happier with how everything just worked pretty well. I am so inspired that I want to make more sugar flowers just for me to keep and one day use for decoration.
