Christmas Tree Holiday Cake

Yule logs now a days have a more creative interpretation. For this Yule log I made a Black Forest Cake base with macerated cherries, cream filling and chocolate shavings.  I also dusted cocoa nibs to use as borders around the cake base making them look like golden shimmering rocks.

The cake, layered instead of rolled, was covered with cherry liqueur flavored chocolate ganache.

I dipped a few sugar wafer cones in dark chocolate and used metallic highlights to give them textures and glittery effect.
