Upsy-Daisy! Orange Cream Cake and Toasted Coconut Flakes
Something tart and something creamy, they usually go well together as with orange and coconut. It's a good flavor balance. Underneath this fuzzy coating of toasted coconut is an orange flavored cake, orange segments and orange pastry cream. The toasted coconut gives a nutty flavor and crunch. The cake is fluffy and flavored with orange zest. The filling of orange curd pastry cream and orange segments makes the cake refreshing in every bite as the juice of the segments bursts.
My cakes seem to gear towards the lighter side as we approach Spring Season. These lovely daisies were a perfect touch to the cake as they evoke the colors of the season to come.
